Very much a cult of personality. It's interesting to see the generous appraisals and discretion that are given to Sam when he is brought up in the context of the controversy surrounding their show. Especially when you contrast it with the nearly universal negative and cynical appraisals given to Jet under the same context and circumstances.
I think givung Sam the benefit of the doubt 3 seasons in a row, that he just isn't aware of all this, isn't hands-onn with it etc it just doesn't add up. I just think Sam is loyal to Jet because they are friends. He also was cancelled himself at the height of his success, so he probably isn't so quick to cast others aside the same way he was.
Or maybe none of that is true. Who knows. I just find the surface level speculation behind the two men interesting because they contrast so much. Like Jet is a lightning rod, or hate sink if you will.
