>>23471907Moron, I literally am the first in my family born outside of Greece, with half my family in Greece. I will attach another Facebook Messenger conversation with another second cousin in Greece.
Me: Have you ever done drugs?
Him: Are you crazy
I asked about a year or two ago, he was born in 1998, so he was in his twenties and in peak drug consuming age for an American. Yet since he’s a Greek, he has the ingrained belief that doing drugs makes you a loser so he never even tried them. If he was American he probably would have tried drugs and still be doing them recreationally.
At my work in the USA, I’m randomly drug tested. A huge plurality of jobs to a majority do expensive drug testing because there are so many addicts here. In Greece as I understand it only if you become a police officer or fire fighter will you be drug tested to get a job. I don’t think it’s ongoing though.
This is how the drug war is racialized:
>https://www.congress.gov/crs-product/IF11965“Under the Anti‑Drug Abuse Act of 1986, 5 grams of crack triggered a 5-year mandatory minimum sentence, while it took 500 grams of powder cocaine to trigger the same 5-year minimum — i.e., a 100:1 ratio in quantity.”
Crack was mostly done by blacks, cocaine mostly by well to do whites. There’s also the factor that since blacks are much poorer when they deal drugs or do drugs they are much more likely to deal and do drugs in the street or public places. Even though whites do slightly more drugs they’re more likely to get arrested for it.
