Pretty good film. Could have been great if the direction and soundtrack were more stylized. A premise like that also demands better character animation than what it had to offer, backgrounds aside this basically looked like a TV anime, and not a very good looking one. Unironically interested in what Shinkai could have done with this. Throw more insert songs in to give the emotional moments more punch.
Patema a top cute though.
Thinking about the twist makes my head hurt.
