For most of human history, having sex meant possibly having a baby, contraception is only a very recent development. It takes significantly more energy for a woman to procreate than a man, so women are more picky by necessity. Men on the other hand are more likely to take what opportunities they get. You need to take it slow with women, make them like you as a person, and then make your move. They are generally not interested in pictures of your penis, and they generally don't want to talk about sex first thing.
