I would have been the same. Why should I die in a war that's got nothing to do with my country? But defending my country? Sure. I think this is why the Vietnam was was unpopular with the masses.

Why are people these days so easy to crumble? I'd feel sorry for them if it weren't for the fact that these people tell others who were living all alone for years, no human contact whatsoever, to just tough it out.
Is that why they reproduce? I know next to nothing about this. But I would have thought that they avoided it during dire times, as in wars or pandemics.
