You can only create so much OC before you get bored. Creating OC for the sake of creating OC instead of creating OC situationally always leads to a burn-out.
A lot of the creative posters on /bant/ simply gave us OC for the first few months and left, and the few that stayed longer just made OC by request or OC for the sake of OC, so a lot of the later/newer /bant/ OC didn't really have context or relation to what was going on in the board and never really stuck.
Only a handful of people are actually artistic and creative, and a large chunk of the people who actually board can't draw and aren't motivated to draw.
These people can either
>A) Discuss things, make interesting threads, or be funny
>B) Regurgitate what the OC creators post
>C) Funpost
Most people funpost because it's easier to and most people frankly aren't interesting.
/bant/ genuinely has to be funnier and have more interesting threads, because that's how good OC ends up being created. Somebody sees something funny relating to the board and the posters and doodles it in ms paint.
