it's kinda entertaining to think about the fact that all the influential scientists and philosophers of the past were basically self-taught whereas if you tell anyone that you're a "self-taught scientist" nowadays you would get laughed at despite everyone having pretty much the same if not better learning capabilities as the people of the past
