Depends how much the round tumbled, dumped energy while passing through the body, how much the round changed shape, how much it was able to dump energy, how close the target was, angle, etc.
We haven't been given photos to determine the angle between entry and exit. It looks like the exist was base of the skull, slightly visible behind the ear. He might have no skull back there, we don't know yet. 300 win mag at 150 yards is going to hit the skull with ~2800 ft lbs. and will punch through a barrier like 1/4" mild steel neatly at that distance.
