For decades after independence, Irish politics was almost unique in Europe because it had virtually no Right-Left political dichotomy. It's only in recent decades, with civil war politics receding, that such a divide is emerging - but it is a very shallow divide. The 2 biggest parties are radical centrists that lean whichever way the political winds are blowing in the country. We do have a collection of large and small left wing parties that lean left to varying degrees, but they will never get into power. These left wing parties are counterbalanced by FF and FG leaning just right enough when necessary to placate the soft right wing people in the country. Far right people don't exist in Ireland in great enough numbers to be relevant.
