The alternative in the 60's at my high school was to be a "Hersh". Hershe's dressed like pro golfers. Alpaca sweaters,pressed slacks, brogues with heavy soles, pastel polo shirts. Hersh's seemed to transition to weekend hippies around 67 or so.
