>>21324411collecting books can be a poser thing if you think that just owning some culturally valuable books is enough to make you look smart and sophisticated without even reading them but my justification for buying and collecting books is to physically have them and keep them around me and especially the older ones also serve as a memory of my past self like "oh yeah this book i bought when i was 16 and when i was into entry level philosophy, that was a cool time" and i just also find joy in consuming information off of paper even if using a phone or a computer for that is sometimes more convenient and faster and i obviously don't have thousands of them yet since yeah it takes time
