well sure but it's basically a fluency degree with some optional cultural or linguistic aspects. other than taking enough hours the only actual class requirements are intermediate jap 1 and 2. a deeper understanding like ur referencing would come from the linguistics or advanced jap 1 and 2 where they probably dive into things like that a lot more thoroughly but since people can graduate only taking shit like japanese history or literature it'd be excessive to spend that much time on abstracted grammar concepts really early on when half the people won't use it and the other half are going to be delving into a lot of detail with a better base of knowledge later anyway no?
