Well its really about the main dimension and than eventually I want some of the bigger heroes to end up dimension hopping in some of their stories and that leading to of course expanding of the universe a bit more. I also had a couple of charactors I was looking at for dimension hopping storylines and arcs and involving getting more power and experience. again all rough draft early idea stuff. Hence why the dimensional stuff is planned for quite a ways into all this. And yes the pulling out of boxes is silly but its mostly just a way to explain things. In reality the gods would just create it by thought and not need to pull a crate of humans and aliens out of the closet to unpack and than add to the dimension. It also was mostly just a rough draft way to present them building the dimension and putting it together. Tho that could also be presented with scenes of the stuff showing up on the planet/dimension also. And yes the other dimensions will build on the first one. There's infinate dimensions but this would only tell the story of a few (least thats the plan).
