Hey Europe, burn the coal or pay the toll!
"Green energy" has been a disaster for Europe. If Europe would return to coal, which is their most abundant carbon fuel, then Europe could achieve energy independence and a new and lasting prosperity because they would have all the energy they need for as much industry as they want.
This coal deposit in the North Sea, containing between three and twenty-three trillion tons of coal, could supply the world's energy needs for centuries at least, if not a millennium or longer, and that's not an exaggeration. That deposit, if those numbers are right, contains as much coal as the entire world uses in 400 to 3000 years.
How do you mine under the North Sea? Well, Cornish miners mined under the shallow waters of the Atlantic coast in medieval times. You dig a shaft on adjacent land that goes under the sea, then you mine outward underneath the sea. Room and pillar coal mines, using continuous mining units, could retrieve much of that enormous coal deposit.
