yeah, i'm under the impression he only found out about adhd for the first time very recently and doesn't actually know what it means since when i asked more about it he described dyslexia to me instead. definitely seems a little adhd to me though and they said they're gonna get him tested so i imagine whoever they're consulting will give him a thorough explanation and it seems that he'll take my recommendations on what to do about it.
pretty sure he's mostly just worried that the kid's looking for a scape goat to be able to slack off, but he's given me pretty free reign to do whatever i think is best during the time i'm there so if i start giving him a lot of small breaks or letting him go off on tangents and he sees good results i don't doubt he'll trust it's real
>>13286331i'm not too worried about it. he's a stern but understanding guy thus far. i've been pretty clear about it so far but intend to really specify in the near future that i'm no doctor or psychiatrist and everyone is different so i can't be certain any of the things i say in relation to adhd are entirely accurate, i'm just using my personal experience (probably) having it and tutoring as a jumping off point.
as i introduce new study methods and such i always intend to reiterate that doing these things is always guesswork for how well it works with any individual, so if either of them feel that it's not an improvement on what they have been doing then that's a valuable insight and we can just move on to trying something else. with that all in mind methods built for adhd people might work for him even if he doesn't have it or vice versa
