there's some protagonist that's special because we said so. there's going to be some simple conflict introduced that's nothing like what they've faced before. suddenly some macguffin/flash of inspiration solves the problem 4/5 of the way through the movie after it looks like all hope was lost. everything turns out fine.
it's just always so samey and predictable. and don't even get me started on forced love interests
