>>16510055The funny thing is that there isnt even a need for animosity between Christians and pagan. Paul even adresses the issue of marriage between christians and unfaithful ones, and how the unfaithful is sanctified through the marriage with the believer.
However the pagans here (though probably mostly jews pulling a "fellow white people", can do nothing but blaspheme and insult, completly void of any form of argument or logic. It is clear that the animosity doesnt go against just "a foreign faith", but against truth and rightousness itself, unable to even understand what the scripture is saying.
from the salem witch trials
>when she was asked, Whether she believed there was a God? her Answer was too blasphemous and horrible for any Pen of mine to mention. An Experiment was made, Whether she could recite the Lords Prayer; and it was found, that tho clause after clause was most carefully repeated unto her, yet when she said it after them that prompted her, she could not possibly avoid making Nonsense of it, with some ridiculous Depravations. This Experiment I had the curiosity since to see made upon two more, and it had the same Event. Upon the Commitment of this extraordinary Woman, all the Children had some present ease; until one (related unto her) accidentally meeting one or two he of them, entertain'd them with her Blessing, that is, Railing; upon which Three of them fell ill again, as they were before.does remind one really of the "pagans" on here
