Mostly day to day wear. Dress uniforms shouldn't even exist on this day and age for anyone under sergeant major in case of NCO's or major in case of officers, even then it should be only mess dress. Service uniform is good enough for standing at attention in front HQ's and other government buildings with honor guards. Dress uniforms for junior enlisted is waste of money, arguably same applies to service uniforms outside of folks using them as working uniforms in offices.
