He clearly thought he needed to run his own bits daily to make S2 even better. And literally 5% of them probably landed.
S1 was successful because it had the Pixies formula of quiet, quiet, LOUD... They would be hanging around being normal people and interacting all day... Then that night Sam would show up or Jet would run some challenge and something crazy might happen.
They unsuccessfully tried to force the action early on, and it blew the load and burnt everything out way too early. (on top of a shitty cast of fans that were in on the bits)
The formula is only interacting with them to announce and ref actually important challenges (always with an incentive) and anything else, gotta be sharks. No more making yourself a character Jet and Ben.
