>>12547872>the places we're talking aboutI'm talking about the emancipation of humanity from the shackles of needless toil. We produce enough, currently, to feed the world many times over
But we don't
We have enough material wealth to ensure that everyone on the planet could live well.
As a fun example, I did some back of the napkin maths and found that Jeff Bezos could bank roll a lineage of people, 2 people per generation, for twice as long as humanity has existed based on the average American's overall expendature throughout their lifetime
The fact that there are people with so much wealth that they couldn't conceivably spend all of it on anything other than further wealth hoarding while other people struggle and toil, and in some places starve, seems like a good argument that the former group of people shouldn't exist.
Also I said I don't think it'll happen
Not that it isn't possible. And even if my argument were that it wasn't possible, that still wouldn't mean that it isn't possible. In my case, I believe it is possible; only that it won't happen
Very similar to how incels on this board could potentially have sex some day; it's possible
But I don't believe it'll happen
>If it's not going to happen then it isn't really possible, is it?That's such a weird thing to say
Are you a native english speaker or no?
Also utopian doens't necessarily mean impossible. It means an imagined society with nearly perfect conditions. I think it's possible. Just not likely. I think we should strive for that as a species, because if we don't then we've already admited defeat
