In Brazil we use much skinnier versions of those bricks which are even more hollow and narrow than dick loving OP's pic, and any wall made from those can easily withstand a hurricane if properly structured in a house construction setting. I can literally hammer or kick the wall of any Brazilian house while trying to do some damage, and the only thing I will achieve is a trip the to hospital.
Brazilian houses are perfect for kids. The most damage that ever happens are on the paint, which is easily repaired.
