I recommend them for in-town if the errand doesn't require major space. It's a lot of fun to ride, and the range is actually pretty good if you get a decent sized battery.
I wouldn't go with anything like the one you pictured unless you were just going to use it for fun. If you want something to get you farther than walking would and faster, and don't want to take the gas vehicle for such a short hop, they are excellent.
Don't buy a Chinese bike. Buy American. The Sondors was Canadian from Vancouver, the Voltbike American from California. The Chinese will put shitty cells together made up of tons of 18650 batteries in series (the kind vapes use) and they are prone to leakage and fire if you aren't careful.
