>>4465695There is a tribe called the Naga people now located in Northeast India and Burma which may have originated from somewhere near Tibet or China. They do not appear to have a long history as they do not record it. This raises questions about whether or not legends from countries such as India, Burma, Thailand and Cambodia are actually referring to the Naga people. In the current day they are ultra patriarchal, something not consistent with legends which refer to female “naga” rulers. Though some contest the notion that the mythological term “naga” (serpent-people) is the same as the current day people group, the Naga people’s name originates from Assamese and Sanskrit names for “naked.”
They are known as warriors and headhunters. Although there is no known naga worship of snakes, the Sanskrit word “Nag” (cobra) is derived from the term Naga.
