Behavior is regulated in Ireland through everyday social interactions where you are kept in line with subtle reminders not to express yourself too independently, and too joyfully. It is normal to shame people for bad behavior, in order to cultivate empathy. But here the shaming strategy is out of control. It is so intense that it incapacitates the individual, causing them to feel shameful about everything. It's just woven into the culture so thoroughly, there's no escape.
I want to overcome this excessive shaming ritual omnipresent here and live a normal life. I'm seriously asking other nations how to develop the mental fortitude to deflect excessive shaming dished out by everyone here. Americans are shameless fuckers. I want to learn the skill of not giving a fuck and how not to be affected by hurtful opinions.
