>>14756772>Physics, metaphysics, and philosophy *depend* on laws of thoughtPhysics, metaphysics, and philosophy are human conceptualizations of phenomena that occur in the universe. Thought if a purely human (or animal) concept. To say the former depends on the latter is absurd. We exist in the universe, as a result of the universe's machinations occurring according to whatever nature it has. Nothing about the universe is dependent upon humans thinking about it.
Materialism doesn't have to lead to anything; it's merely an observation about the world. The way we function in our world doesn't have to change as a result of it.
A robot could be programmed to type exactly what you have typed. No consciousness needed. A robot could even compute what you have computed. It is very well PHYSICALLY possible to create circuits that function the same as neurons, and therefore, to create something very functionally similar to a human brain out of nothing but cold metal. This robot could compute logically what you have just computed and expressed. Would the robot be conscious? (My answer would be "maybe," as the circuits might be an "organized system of matter" -- or maybe not, as I don't know for sure if that's how consciousness arises, or if consciousness even exists anywhere outside of myself)
