An overlap of 70% and above indicates that both speech forms are the same language. Thus while the analysis shows that English, with an overlap of 69.2% is a completely different language, all other German speech forms, such as Dutch (81.3%) and Swedish (75.0%) are merely dialects of the same Language. Dialect intelligibility tests would need to be carried out to determine how well speakers of divergent dialect can understand the standard formal German, and educational material provided in regions like the Randstad where speech is heavily affected.
