Question: why do chinese that study abroad keep to their own so strongly? 20% of my university is foreigners and of that maybe 33% of that group is chinese. despite that, there's a very clear disparity between the chinese and literally everyone else.
I remember being excited because I grew up with a lot of chinese friends (1st generation american, frequently visited china) only to be disappointed by the evident self-segregation. perhaps I'm too retarded but I haven't had a good opportunity to meet them without it feeling like I'm intruding in their space
It was no different even before the pandemic
