The biggest hint of that you're coming in contact with Evil entities is that they're trying to deceive you. Entities of Righteousness would not do that. They would show signs of sympathy and affection, not to gain from you, but to help you.
I've still yet to try DMT though so take my understanding with a grain of salt, especially since you have the experience. I'm still waiting for the right timing.
