What really happened is some virus similar in severity to the flu appeared, which is no minor thing given annual flu deaths. However, the type of American who voted for Trump simply doesn't give a fuck if their neighbor dropped dead. I know that's incomprehensible to people in more cohesive societies, but there's no "culture" in the USA. I have a Mexican neighbor with a fat child and they haven't improved their physical ability to fight off a virus over an entire god damn year. That's because HIS culture is churros and pork rinds covered in sour cream. He can get sick with a disease that mostly affects fat people. That's his fate as a free person. Trump lost because of half-assery trying pretend like he did this great virus response while his based wanted everything back to normal by April when the death rate data was in.
