>Is the sun "God?"
Buddhists consider the Sun a "buddha," which translates as "enlightened individual" and does not specify that the buddha must be human. In accordance with their belief in inter-being, the Sun is not a "god" per se (there are no gods in Buddhism) but is in fact our FATHER, as the Earth is our mother, and both the Sun and the Earth are necessary for human life to exist. Advanced practitioners of Buddhism incorporate the Sun into their "mindful meditation" and would consider it rude not to thank the Sun directly for a particularly pleasant day.
