Russia doesn't have this problem yet, but remember that a large portion of America (and Western Europe) is formed of non-Americans (or Europeans, respectively). You don't know who really is behind that US flag.
That being said, there is some truth to what you are saying, except it applies to the entire Western world. Look at the average instagram/twitter discussion. Is that how a sane person talks? Or rather, is that how an intelligent human being talks? It's always been the media's intention to make the average person dumber. They're much easier to control like that. Eastern countries are simply mkre straightforward when it comes to controlling people. Look at China, for example. And don't tell me that Russia offers that much freedom to the average citizen.
