I made some of my best friends in real life because of 4chan, which is counterintuitive on surface, but because we both went on the website, we both knew that we fit certain societal molds. We had certain conversation topics we could go on about, and others that neither of us would like. It eased the process of social retards like us for making friends. That part, I'll admit, is cringy.
Now, if I'm going to just stab in the dark, if I found out someone was a regular of slash b slash, I'd assume that their personality consisted of porn and hyper stale YLYL threads and that's it. If I found out someone went on /pol/, I'd all together avoid them because they'd be some bitter self-serious prick that probably doesn't have a large range of non-political conversation topics.
If I found someone went on /bant/ or /s4s/, I'd actually be pretty happy to meet them. The last 6 months of hanging out on /bant/ have been insanely enjoyable for me. Some of the initial community has died, but I still see OC, weird gets, and a slow and small enough board where people can kind of know one another and have a rough character of the board develop. I like /s4s/ because it's concentrated inaccessible shitposting. It's good. I'm just worried that /bant/ will become /b/ and flop. I'm enjoying it while I can.
