A lone, wandering/ riding hero, sometimes with companions, smiting evil and fulfilling destiny, often through sacrifice.
Wether it's vedic half-god charioteers, the Bogatyrs, half White cossacks banding together or mythical cowboys killing indians. This type of story immediately grips the imagination of young boys. I recall the moments when my sons saw this type of Aryan conquerer for the first time (charioteer & winged hussar) in artworks. They could not stop talking about it.
We also have wandering Gods (Oðin, Mercury..) who often would meet these heroes and give advice.
