>>1273125I'm a huge sci-fi fan. I'm not even a huge libertarian, I'm actually rather statist, but the best American sci-fi novel has got to be "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress".
This is followed closely by "Starship Troopers" , also by Heinlein, and "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep". Most new sci-fi doesn't come close to Heinlein and Dick.
I must say though, some of my favorite books are foreign. I love "Storm of Steel". As far as war memoirs go "The Sergeant in the Snow" is a good short read from an oft uncovered aspect of WW2, Italians on the Eastern Front.
Pretty much anything by Stanislaw Lem (especially "Solaris") is also good, he's my favorite author of all time.
