Guy shot himself in the chest, didn't die as he missed anything critical, pulled the arrow out, reloaded it and shot himself again. Autopsy showed pulling the arrow out between shots was what did the fatal damage.
The most three stooges style i have read involves tying a rope to a strong fixed structure (pole or bridge or something), tying noose at other end, put noose around neck, hop in car hit the gas. Evidently the success rate on this is quite high. It leads to severed arteries, severed spinal cord and sometimes decapitation.
