I'd say their hasn't been much interest on capitalizing on near term products. There is no company throwing hundreds of millions at creating an online service that would replace the major porn sites, there is no large effort to replace voice actors, the generation and automatic rigging of 3d models is still small time research despite great strides (Tencent released an interesting paper two day ago). If the screws were tightened on the industry the average person would see a significant increase in the amount of AI in the daily lives as companies actually began to offer services and products.
