Unless you believe the light cast on the moon is from another source than the sun, you cannot refute that the angle between the moon and sun from the earth on the first and third quarters is 87°. That means that on the first and third quarter phases the sun is 19 times further from the earth than the moon.
How do you explain that on the spring and fall equinox that, regardless of latitude, the sun rises directly due east and sets directly due west?
