>>238890319Okay I'll give you the rundown. Graduated in 2013 with degree in political science and spanish, I learned Spanish throughout my schooling and was 100% fluent, almost to the level of a native speaker just missing out on occasional slang terms.
So after college I got my first real "full time" job working for the largest nonprofit in my state. I was in their "sponsor services" department which is the same as customer service but for charities. So I talked on the phone to donors, explaining how our programs worked, but mostly just taking down new credit card and payment info, as well as translating the letters of spanish speaking children in the projects we served in latin america. I made $13.50 per hour plus benefits. It was a great organization, did great work, good finances, not a corrupt charity, and at that point in life I was still liberal and genuinely just wanted to make the world a better place and felt that job was perfect. I'd start out there, but over time I figured I would advance my position and have more of a direct role and be able to use my knowledge of mediation and politics to figure out how best to deal with local and national governments around the world where we operated. At the time this organization seemed perfect for me.
And yet it was not to be. I worked there for 2 and a half years, without a raise (because it's a charity and the people we are serving come first) plus it was still early 2010s and economy hadn't fully recovered. There were minimal chances for advancement, basically if my manager quit I could've applied for her job but that was it. I applied for a couple of jobs in other departments and was told I didn't have the skills, they didn't even fucking interview me. Also had a mental breakdown because working in a call center environment will destroy your spirit, despite the good intentions of the company, and I quit.
During the time I quit I went on a road trip, banged a hot asian chick in california, and enjoyed life
