agreed, it's more cynical now. i don't think it was inevitable for it to turn cynical, but everything about the world and the internet is different now. why the fuck would you expect the sense of humor to be the same? moreover, of all the things to miss about the earlier internet, why are you throwing a tantrum over the sense of humor of all things? i can't help but feel that the people who say that sort of stuff are just infantile. manchildren in the literal, non-meme sense of the word and they just want things to be back to the state they were when they were children.
