I can't wait for the tomatoes to grow in order to start cooking some of the stuff I haven't prepared since the last harvest, they call for ingredients which are preferably not store-bought. Should probably invest in a winter garden, really, to grow basilic and the like.
The bread that goes with borscht is traditionally a rye one. Pic related. It is indeed sour. I've seen some favor borodinskiy bread too, but that's a subtype of rye bread anyway.
