I’m a bartender at an airport and one of the things we offer is to go drinks. So I had a boomer woman come in and order a martini with me. I ask her how she likes it and I make it for her. Mind you I have a full bar, service well, dishes and the like and she said she was in a rush so I helped her immediately instead of making her wait. When I set up the credit card machine she inserts her card and goes out of her way to press the no tip button in my face while laughing. This woman looks me in the eyes and says “Sorry I don’t believe in tipping, your boss can pay you instead of me.” I get American tipping culture isn’t great and I don’t want to debate it but it is what it is at the moment. I’m just trying to support my kids and get myself through school since I’m going back for cyber security. I’m not a lawmaker, I’m not a restaurant owner, please just treat me like I’m a human being and not your personal servant. So many boomers too act outraged when we close for the night since “the airport is 24/7.” I don’t go to their job and demand they stay open for me because I need their services after hours.
