The UNSC aren’t going to be able to breakthrough Covenant lines in the east for the following reasons:
1. they’ve lost the element of surprise
2. Covenant is most likely to transfer Elite troops from the Cartographer Installation to reinforce that area as the UNSC are proudly telling everyone who will listen what their intentions are.
3. Even if the UNSC manage to advance, their inability to interdict Covenant drop ships coming up from the rear so as to plug any holes in their lines will mean the UNSC won’t achieve a breakthrough.
It’s like the High Command General Staff haven’t learnt the lessons of Reach.
