Since buddhism is a religion of methods, not truths, there's actually useful emotional and psychological things you can learn from studying the non-spooky aspects of it.
I don't understand how anyone can be attracted to religions that say "Just believe this mate and you're now part of a special club who knows THE TRUTH". That doesn't require you to git gud, just lets you join in on circlejerks with people who think exactly like you.
