>>16895235so whatever after looking through a bunch of servers and all of them being bots i gave up. the game was starting to leak memory and run even more like shit anyway
figured after that i should see if theres any climb servers on the browser, and turns out theres one left still. its not a very popular gamemode and i think the people that do play it are on csgo instead, so lucky that anybody is bothering to run a server for it here.
anyway, after changing my settings so that i dont have to download 900 different models of hatsune miku i got in and it was pretty nice. being able to set checkpoints instead of noclipping every time you fail a jump is already a lifechanger.
i couldnt really tell if there was a difference in the movement from a default server, but i guess if there is its stuff you have to look hard enough for.
it turns out that a couple of shit that i thought u need a plugin for were kinda just me being bad, like a trick where you have to almost fully crouch first then jump to get extra height. that was really weird to me, ive never seen it in any other source game before. tf2 has c-tapping but its not really the same.
and no this isnt crouch jumping, not exactly. thats why i was confused by it. only figured it out by random experimenting.
either way, its still definitely better to play on a server just because of being able to set checkpoints.
plus i get to play on a brand new map with just a command instead of having to go look for and download one, so thats always nice too. its good when you have servers to yourself so u can switch maps as much as you want
oh, but what sucked was the ping again, i had about 200. even on a empty server with nobody to fight, it still affects you. it makes your movement more sluggish, again the server has trouble figuring out where to place you, so it kinda jitters you around. especially when you jump and land, literally every single time i landed i got pulled back a little bit from the server correcting itself
