He taught in synagogues, a place where jews gather, instead of pagan temples and even referenced characters from the OT in his teachings which were all jewish.
What happened OP, is that the jews stole some ideas from other cultures (probably the ones they destroyed) and assimilated it into their religion but the fact of the matter is that it's impossible to tell what ideals are jewish and which ones aren't. I'm sure the idea of slavery being acceptable is jewish though. They have entire chapters dedicated to laws on slaves instead of just making it illegal and teaching a good moral like reliance on slaves makes the self weaker.
