Unlike cows, pigs, chickens, dogs were NOT bred for meat (in Europe). They were bred as companions and hunting/herding assistants. So yes, if you want to characterize our love of dogs as purely cultural/feels you wouldn't be wrong. That said I'm completely okay with stoning people who abuse or eat dogs. Don't like it? GTFO.
