God gives us the path to victory over temptation. We are instructed to FLEE, we can't stand and battle our own fallen nature. It's the opposite when confronted with external evil, we stand our ground firmly on our faith in Jesus.
I've had victory in this specific area by evading and avoiding temptation. You can setup "guard rails" that let you know where temptation lurks. You can avoid them if you take control before you go too far of course. You only have so much of an energy bar to resist these attacks and to use your will to overcome temptation, so manage it carefully.
