>>16639744NABRE is cool because it's got a few OT books that I really like such as "Wisdom" mind you I have a version from like 1984 which would have been a Catholic version at the time although now they just have note books with selected verses in the pews from what I have seen personally.... Further on the topic of "which bible is the best" somewhere in that NABRE from the early 80s which I suspect is one of the additional OT books I read a prophecy about an angel coming and everyone saying something along the lines of "how were we to know which one?" to which the angel replied something along the lines of "were not the prophecies in them all". I'm totally misquoting this stuff and need to find that source but I haven't quite come across a searchable digital version so I guess I'll have to find it in the paper version the hard way at some point.
Important note, doing some research on the NABRE and what have you it appears that in the 70s-80s there was a movement to remove gendered terms and make things "gender neutral" thus bluring the roles of males and females by replacing words like "brother" with brethren and what have you. I fear there are unforeseen consequences to this such as us not using the term "brother" to address one another in modern society even though you see on the last page of the bible that an angel requests to simply be called brother by john.... Yeah you aren't supposed to call anyone "father" but God and "Pastor" is just a modern version of "rabbi"
I could keep ranting but this thread will probably go 404 before I post.
