First of all the genre "Rock" emerged out of African American music, or at least it heavily borrowed from them (see Elvis Presley). Second - Rock, like countless other following genres (noticeably Heavy Metal), borrowed a lot from classical music.

It's worse, it's a musical zombie that refuses to die. There are still kids forming bands playing guitars, bass and drum. Hell even Nu Metal made some quick agonal breathing noises in the late 2010s when Korn released their new album and in the 2020s as well with new bands like Code Orange or Tallah. Also some subset of Zoomers adopted what I would call a "Rapmetal" fashion style, at least here in Europe.
