>>20135587>He also excelled and distinguished himself in wisdom above those who were most eminent among the Hebrews at that time for shrewdness; those I mean were Ethan, and Heman, and Chalcol, and Darda, the sons of MaholGoetia is a practice of Greek origin and the Jews know it. In Greek literature the legendary Dardanus founded the city of Troy, whilst his brother Kalchus founded the city of Thebes. Both these brothers are listed as the sons of Zarah, the sons of Judah.
>“The sons of Zerah: Zimri, Ethan, Heman, Kalkol and Darda –five in all.” 1 Chronicles 2:6Diodorus Sicilus only confirms this showing that these sons of Zarah became great leaders. Since Kings were to come out of Judah this only makes sense. The Pharez line ruled over Israel, whilst the Zarah line over the centuries came to rule over Greece.
>“The Aliens [Israelites] were driven from the country [Egypt], and the most outstanding and active among them banded together and, as some say, were cast ashore in Greece and certain other regions, their leaders were notable men, chief among them being Danaus and Cadmus.” Diodorus Sicilus, Bibliotheca Historica 40.3King Solomon was also compared to these two men, to show how exceptional his wisdom was. Needless to say Darda and Chalcol must have been great men in their own right and a significant impact on early Greece.
>“For he was wiser than all men; than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, and Chalcol, and Darda…” 1 Kings 4:31
